From time to time, I will be featuring books from Before Five in A Row and Five in A Row curriculum. It’s amazing how these books survived the test of time and became classics.
Today the book we will look at is Crockett Johnson’s The Carrot Seed.
This is one of Macy’s favorite books, a short story about perseverance and childlike faith. Though everyone said, his little dream of growing his carrot wouldn’t happen, he always knew it would.
In spite of discouragement from the people closest to him, the little boy persevered. He watered the seed and waited and waited and waited. In a glance, we can look at this story and highlight patience and perseverance. Both are amazing points in the book but what struck me the most was this little boy’s faith. His faith in that tiny seed.
Much like a dream in your heart, may you continue to water it and pull the weeds and wait until God makes it happen. Keep praying and don’t give up ☺️❤️🥕
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32
