The first time I laid my eyes on the infamous iPhone app, I asked my husband, “Will there be an end to that run?” He shook his head and I watched him play. I realized why a lot of people, especially my guy friends get addicted to it. That night I realized some people are on a real temple run, dodging obstacles, running their fastest but no end goal in mind. I bet most of them would retire and say what old sad Solomon said, “Everything is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
Truth is, all of us have a purpose and when we fail to see that and live it, we would find ourselves aimless and worthless. Some would say that their purpose is to be rich and help people, some to be famous and inspire, these are good goals but what are you really here for? Why did God let you live your twenty or thirty-plus years? Why? What’s the end goal?
Did you know that someone marked that race for you? Yes, God did. Paul encourages us, “Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us (Hebrews 12:1 NLT). I believe that if He has set this race for us, it just makes sense that our starting line and finish line were set by Him too. He knows what we’re here for. If you’re struggling with your worth or purpose, go back to the One who created you and set this race for you. In His eyes, you have great worth, a great purpose and a great destiny.
I hope at the end of your life, you can say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
