‘O be careful little eyes what you see, O be careful little eyes what you see,
There’s a Father up above and He’s looking down in love
So, be careful little eyes what you see…’
Whenever we hear this song, we are reminded of little Sunday School children mimicking teacher as she acts every word of the song. This is not the kind of song that teenagers, yuppies, mommies and daddies will have in their ipods or mp3 players. But don’t you think this simple song is the one we actually need to hear everyday?
Everyday, in the streets of Manila, billboards are parading the bodies of males and females in their intimate apparel. When you turn the radio on, you will hear songs that promote one night stand with a total stranger. Movies, if it’s not declared GP, almost always have a bed scene. It is the world nowadays. That’s how people want it.
My husband and I though don’t want to go with the flow. He even tweeted once that sex should only be done after marriage. Someone tweeted back, ‘LOL’. Noel didn’t get offended. He was simply sad for that man. That man wouldn’t see the value and treasure of the gift he has been given.
The population of people who believe in purity is decreasing. Purity is not just for those who are waiting for their future spouse but also for those who are married. Real purity is purity in heart, mind and soul. Watch what your eyes look at, what your ears listen to, what your hands do, where your feet go.
Why? Because this is the only way to true love. “The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5 NIV).”
So where does love come from? A pure heart, a good conscience and a sincere faith. Are these possible when you’re not guarding your eyes, ears, hands and feet? Everyone is searching for true love. God already told us the way but we just don’t believe it. Hindi KJ si God. He will not ask you to not do things that feel good for no reason at all. He made those things good, sex included, for you to enjoy. But when it is enjoyed at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons, with the wrong person, it loses its beauty. It becomes a wrecking ball that destroys couples, families, marriages, children.
Pause. Think twice.
If you’re single, ask yourself: Will this act honor your future spouse?
Married? Ask: Is this choice worth your family? Is a second glance worthy to be exchanged to your beautiful memories as a couple? Think again. Yes, the world tells you it’s okay but is it really okay?
God wants the best for you. When He created you, He made sure you eat everyday, He made sure you will have a good future, He made sure you will have a chance to know Him, but we just shove Him aside. Listen to Him. When He tells you “No, don’t do that…” or “Don’t look at it…” or simply, “STOP!” Listen to Him. Admit it, we all need God. He wants the best for you – true joy, true love.
